Holiday postcards

If you manage to get away for a week or two during the summer, it's a good idea to send your colleagues a postcard. You don't have to write very much, and you can use the same sort of abbreviations you use in emails (missing out subject pronoun, auxiliaries and so on).

You don't need to give a full account of what you're doing on holiday, and you can use standard phrases like "wish you were here". If you can make your postcard funny, even better.

Here's an example of a holiday postcard:

Dear All

Having a great time in (…the Bahamas). Hotel great and beach perfect. Not missing the office at all. Food is interesting. Local speciality (a type of frog baked in banana leaves) looks a bit like (…name of competitor / boss / an unpopular person).

Wish you were here
