Making requests

Here are some useful ways you can use to ask people to do things for you. Using the modal verbs could, can, will and would will make what you say polite as well as concise.

Could you let me know your decision by this evening?

Can you take some brochures with you when you go to the presentation?

Will you let him know that I can't attend the meeting?

Would you phone Tony for me and explain the situation?

I'd be grateful if you would confirm receipt of my order.
