Older workers

When businesses are facing skills gaps and finding it difficult to recruit qualified staff, one solution is to attract the over-55s.

In a recent study carried out by the Economist Intelligence Unit, more than 40% of senior executives thought it would be beneficial to recruit older workers.

In the UK, B&Q (a DIY and home improvements company) has targeted older workers, saying that they are "no less productive" and that they have "great rapport with customers". Sainsbury's (a supermarket chain) has also launched a campaign to recruit 10,000 mature workers across Britain.

What's your opinion? Are older workers valued in your country?
