Flexible working rights
The British government plans to extend flexible working rights to all parents with children under the age of 16. At the moment, parents with children under six (roughly 6 million workers) can ask for flexible working hours.
Women and equalities minister Harriet Harman said: "As any parent knows, the demands of parental responsibility don't end at the age of six, which is why we are going to extend the right to request flexible work to parents with older children."
Research has showed that flexible working has either a positive or no impact on individual performance, and that flexible working can also help employees to reduce stress levels.
